Note: I bought this toy a long time ago.

Rank: C
- A hassle to set up each time
- Poor method for attaching onaholes/sleeves
- Not truly hands-free unless you rig up some mounting system
- Loud
- Irritating for syncing with videos due to mandatory online connection and high latency
- Generally not fun, definitely not worth the hassle of using it
- Some problems can be alleviated via buying or making better attachments, which I didn't do
I used the toy... 30 times at most, I think. Maybe 20.

A Hassle
This is a real hassle to get set up.
You have get the sleeve toy strapped in just right. Too loose and it'll come off, but too tight and you won't be able to fit yourself inside the toy. So it's kind of best to insert into the toy first, and then strap the toy in, so you can get it right for the circumference of the toy once your dick bulges it out.
That means you'll have to be erect and maintain an erection, which can be difficult since it's not exactly erotic to set it up. A cock ring makes it easier. It's just a pain, you have to balance holding the machine, holding the sleeve toy, and somehow also strapping the toy in.
It's better, I guess, just to try doing it without your dick in, at that point.
There's just an inherent tradeoff between leaving the attachment strap loose — your dick can enter the toy, but it'll slide off over time — or tightening it, where your dick will be too-tightly squeezed or not even able to enter at all, but it'll slide off more slowly.
Poor Attachment Mechanism
In general the attachment mechanism is just bad. Perhaps it's because I used softer toys with it, but having only one point of contact means that the rest of the toy just flops around.
There are (now) third party attachments you can pay extra money for, which seem to be longer, helping solve the issue of flopping around, but not helping the issue that squeezing a soft onahole with a velcro strap impeding its ability to expand for your girth.
The generic sample sleeve they included (they now sell a lot more on their site) worked better, due to having little ridges for the attachment fabric to catch on, as well as just being small and lightweight.
Not Very Hands-Free
The point of a hands-free stroker is so that you can just relax and enjoy the sensation, right? But it's not really hands-free because you have to hold it.
That would be fine if that's all there was — if you're just holding it in place casually and enjoying.
But the laws of physics apply even to sex toys. As it moves, you have to put effort into holding it in place so that it doesn't go tumbling around. I found this to be more exerting than just stroking manually.
This is where third-party attachments come in; some people rig up a system for The Handy to be held in place by e.g. their table. I didn't do this. It seems their newer version (Handy 2) has built-in screw mounts to make this easier, but you still have to spend more money (or time) on it.
Beyond that: due to aforementioned issues with the attachment mechanism, I often have to stop usage and readjust the strap or position.
I also have issues with the positioning of the stroking piece. I won't go into detail but I feel like it doesn't move as far down onto or off of my dick as I want, or, if it does, there's a high chance that the toy will just flop off my dick. There's also a chance that the toy could pinch my balls, if I position things wrong.
So, I have to be careful and actively think about how/where I hold it, and what settings I use. My brain's very limited cognitive capabilities isn't focusing on pleasure, it's at max capacity doing toy management.
None of this makes for an enjoyable experience and certainly not a relaxing, hands-free one.
Cleaning
The long opening gap where the stroking part moves through is (necessarily) exposed. I found it easy for lube to get in there, especially given the aforementioned hassle and poor attachment mechanism (when it plops off my dick, lube gets a bit messy). There's no easy way to clean it without taking the toy apart, which I didn't do, and it doesn't seem easy to do (i.e. it doesn't snap apart, it's not designed to be easily serviceable, I think)
Sound
It's loud, and seemed to get louder after the first few uses. The kind of noise isn't like a vibrator, either, where it can be covered up with a fan or something — it'll stick out.
Syncing With Videos Wasn't Good
It advertises a feature for syncing the strokes with videos, which I thought would be fun. Either matching the strokes to a porn video, or syncing it with the rhythm of a music-focused video (like PMV/HMV stuff).
It simply wasn't as fun as I thought.
I'd rather just manually set the toy's speed and manipulate it based off how I'm feeling, rather than having it done automatically.
Worst of all:
It's mandatory for The Handy to connect with their servers for video syncing. Syncing is done via a web app (their website). I believe the video script is uploaded to their servers, where it's read; then The Handy connects to their servers, receiving its instructions on how it should move.
It seems to be connecting to someplace far away from me (presumably in Scandinavia, maybe Norway), since I usually have a very high ping (read: a high delay) on synced videos — like, 2 or 3 seconds.
The web app has a system to adjust for the delay, but the delay fluctuates, and even if it's stable during your session, you have to spend a few minutes every time trying to dial the offset settings in. It's a pain and doesn't work excellently.
I don't see why video syncing/script-reading can't operate locally through your computer (connecting wirelessly via bluetooth or something, or hell even wired), and only connect to central servers for updates. It would be way better.
To put it more simply: Information goes from
Your PC -> Northern Europe -> Your Handy
which causes delay issues and feels uncomfortable privacy-wise.
I don't see why information can't just go from
Your PC -> The Handy right next to it
It seems they simply found making a web app to be easier for them, even though it's far less convenient for the user.
The newer Handy 2 might be fixing this, but I'm not 100% sure. The product page claims the sequel will have "better connectivity". I'm not interested in buying it so I won't look into it further.
Overall
Yeah, I'm not a fan. I haven't used it in years.
Tried it once again recently, but my opinion was the same.
It was a fun, novel experience to have an automatic stroker the very first time I used it. But aside from that one-off novelty, it's not fun and I don't reach for it ever.
If you're desperate for such a toy and willing to pay a lot of money, the upcoming The Handy 2 might solve a couple of the issues I mention, which, combined with third-party attachments and mounting systems, might make for a decent experience.
That's not me. I'm not interested in this stuff anymore.
Ultimately, if you seek relaxing hands-free sexual pleasure, just find a mate and take turns giving each other service lol.
Or buy the Fun Factory Manta vibrator.
Or some other toy that I'm unaware of.
But not this one, imo.
